How to Watch Iceland Compete in Eurovision 2019

Posted on May 17, 2019May 17, 2019 by Dwight Martino

I keep hearing this same question every year, and every year the answer keeps changing.   “How do I watch Iceland compete in Eurovision from the USA?”

After some research it seems that the traditional methods to watch Eurovision in the U.S. have been discontinued or blocked.

Logo TV has not renewed its rights to broadcast the popular show in 2019, and no other stations seem to be picking it up.

The internet as always saves the day

Rumor had it that Netflix might broadcast it live, but that is an unusual idea for the streaming video provider and as nothing has been advertised so far this should be dismissed.

Eurovision’s YouTube Channel is reported to be geo-blocked in the U.S., so it may come down to good old RUV.is to pick up the slack.  RÚV did transmit the Semi-Final on Tuesday on RUV.is for all to see without any geo-blocking, but as we have seen with some of the national team games, this may not extend to Saturday’s finale.  So having a VPN on hand to allow one to watch it via Iceland may still be necessary for watching it on Youtube or RUV.is.

For those using Apple TV, RUV has released their app, Sjonvarp, and can be found in the App Store.  RÚV can also be found in the Google Play store.
