Celebrate a Nordic Christmas … 13th annual!

Thursday, December 24, 2020 at 2:30 pm

Another Virtual Program … Due to COVID-19, the 2016 service will be updated

  • The Sunday school children will light the Advent wreath.
  • We will hear the familiar texts from Isaiah and St Luke.
  • We will sing lots of hymns and carols, sometimes in Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Danish, Icelandic and maybe even in English (always the language of your choice)!
  • Musicians, both singers and instrumentalists, from the local Nordic community will enhance the service with their talents.

Mission

Our mission is to promote and celebrate our Icelandic traditions and heritage. We do this mainly through our much anticipated annual events (June 17th Independence Day Picnic, Þorrablót, Jólabazaar, Children’s Christmas Party, and Annual Meeting) but are open to other ideas.

History

The Icelandic Association of Washington, DC held its first meeting on October 9,1969. We welcome all: native Icelanders, American/Icelanders, and those who just love all things Icelandic!
